1. Meta Tags

The metadata that describes the information available on a product page to the search engines is known as Meta-tag. It is important to add a meta-title and meta-description that will be visible on the SERPs. The rankings of products can be improved through these meta-tags. 

The admin can add meta-tags for the website’s homepage, products, brands, categories, blogs and CMS pages. Fig. 9.1.1: Meta Tags

To add a meta tag - 

  1. Select Module: The admin can select a module from the drop-down box provided in the search bar. For example, to add meta-tag for a product, please select the ‘Products’ option from this drop-down list.
    The list includes - 
    • Pages: All the CMS pages are enlisted in this module. It also includes ‘Default Meta Settings’ which allows admin to add meta-tags for the website's homepage. 
    • Products: All the products added in the system are enlisted in this module. 
    • Brands: All the brands added in the system are enlisted in this module. 
    • Categories: All the product categories added in the system are enlisted in this module. 
    • Blogs: All the blog pages added in the system are enlisted in this module. 
  2. Select a Page/Brand/Product/Category/Blog: The list of components available in the specified module are displayed in the left section of this page. To make changes for a specific option, please click on the ‘Edit’ icon provided besides its name. An Edit form will be displayed in the right section.

    The admin can make following changes in the Edit form -
    • Meta Title: Enter meta title.
    • Meta Keywords: Enter the keywords. 
    • Meta Description: Enter the description. 
    • Other Meta Tags: Enter other relevant meta tags.
      Clicking on ‘Update’ will save the changes and ‘Discard’ will close the Edit form. 

2. URL Rewriting & 301 Redirect 

This page displays the original URLs for all web pages linked with the website. The admin can add custom URLs for SEO purposes. 

301 Redirect: If the URL for a particular page is changed, the website owner needs to ensure that the visitors are redirected to the new URL. This can be done by enabling 301 redirect.

Enable 301 Redirection’ toggle button is provided on the top-right corner of this page as shown in figure 9.2.1. The admin can enable/disable this button as per their necessity.

Admin can add custom URLs for products, brands, categories, blogs and CMS pages.

To add a custom URL - 

  1. Select Module: The admin can select a module from the drop-down box provided in the search bar. For example, to add a custom URL for any product, please select the ‘Products’ option from this drop-down list.
    The list includes - 
    • Pages: All the CMS pages are enlisted in this module. 
    • Products: All the products added in the system are enlisted in this module. 
    • Brands: All the brands added in the system are enlisted in this module. 
    • Categories: All the product categories added in the system are enlisted in this module. 
    • Blogs: All the blog pages added in the system are enlisted in this module. 
  2. Add custom URL: Enter the custom URL (slug).
    Please note that the made changes will be saved automatically. 

3. Alt Images 

Including ‘Alt Text’ along with the image title also contributes to improving image SEO. Through this module, the admin can manage the ‘Alt’ and ‘Title’ tags of images added for products, brands, categories and blogs.

To add an Alt text for an image - 

  1. Select Module: The admin can select a module from the drop-down box provided in the search bar. For example, to add Alt text for a product’s image, please select the ‘Products’ option from this drop-down list.
    The list includes - 
    • Products: All the products added in the system are enlisted in this module. 
    • Brands: All the brands added in the system are enlisted in this module. 
    • Categories: All the product categories added in the system are enlisted in this module. 
    • Blogs: All the blog pages added in the system are enlisted in this module. 
  2. Select a Brand/Product/Category/Blog: The list of components available in the specified module are displayed in the left section of this page. To make changes for a specific component, please click on the ‘Edit’ icon provided besides its name. An Edit form will be displayed in the right section.
  3. Make changes in the Edit Form:Fig. 9.3.2: Edit Form
    The admin can add Alt texts for every separate image. Enter the ‘Title’ and ‘Alt’ text in the input fields provided besides each image. Click on ‘Update’ to save changes or ‘Discard’ to close the form without saving changes. 

4. Miscellaneous

The admin can manage following SEO related settings from this page- 

  • Robots Txt-  
    • Allow: Selecting this will allow Google crawler to request all the pages of the website. 
    • Disallow: Selecting this will restrict Google crawler from requesting any of the pages of the website. 
    • Custom: Enter the Robots text for allowing selective access. [Tribe - SEO tab for Admin General Settings]
  • Schema Code: The websites and products are displayed on Google search results page as shown in figure 9.4.2 below. Fig. 9.4.2: Output of Google Search Results
    To promote the websites, the admin must configure the ‘Schema Code’. Enter the Default Schema Code in the provided text field. [Tribe - SEO tab for Admin General Settings]
  • Site Map -
    • Update Sitemap: Clicking on this button will update the complete website’s sitemap. 
    • View XML Sitemap: Clicking on this button will generate the website’s XML sitemap. 
    • View HTML Sitemap: Clicking on this button will generate the website’s HTML sitemap.
      Click on ‘Update’ to save the changes.
