Blog

Growcer blog module provides a content management system for blogs that can either be posted in reverse chronological order or in a set desired order.

As a system admin, there are some provisions that allow setting up blog content, adding new blogs, managing posting under one or more categories, allow readers to post comments, receive contributions and so forth.

1. Blog Post Categories

Categories provide a useful way to group related posts together. Depending upon the settings and theme you have set up, categories can be displayed on the Top Navigation Menu or bottom of posts. This page displays all your categories, subcategories, number of posts belonging to each category, status and set of options available. From this module, categories can be edited, added and deleted and can be organized hierarchically. Know what various actions can be performed:

I. Add Blog Post Category :

On the upper right corner of listing, click on the three horizontal dots icon and select Add Blog Post Category. This will open Blog Post Category Setup form where category related information needs to be added.

  1. General tab: This tab displays the following information to be added:
    • Category Identifier*: Define a category with a unique name. This is a mandatory field and cannot be left blank.
    • SEO Friendly URL*: Enter SEO optimized url. Suggestions will be autorefelected (gray color text) below the field.
    • Category Parent: The drop-down list displays previously added categories under which a new category can be added as a sub-category. Select Root Category from the list if it’s a new blog category.
    • Category Status: Define the status, Active or Inactive. Where the former showcases the category on the top navigation menu, the latter temporarily hides the category from the menu.
    • Featured : Select checkbox Featured post to keep a post on top of the front page of your blog. Otherwise, leave it empty
  2. Language data tab: This tab displays the following information to be added:
    • Category Name*: Enter a category name. In case it is left blank, category identifier name will be displayed at the store frontend. Click on Update to save changes to selected language data. Other displayed language tabs are dependent upon the number of languages enabled in a system.

II. Status :

With the help of Toggle Switch statuses can be marked as Active or Inactive. Those marked Active are represented with a set color as Green. Setting status to Inactive will temporarily hide selected categories from the store frontend.

III. Edit :

It is possible to edit the information that has previously been added. Below the Action header, click on the three horizontal dots, select Edit and change the name, parent category, status of the Blog Post Category Setup form discussed above.

IV. Delete:

To remove a category from the listed category, select Delete below the Action header.

Note: Deleting a category will not delete the posts associated with that category.

V. Search :

On the top of the listing page, there is a search bar placed for easy navigation and quick sorting of categories listed. Type in the Keyword, click Search and list will hide results you don’t want to see.

2. Blog Posts

This area is dedicated to display all your posts that appear on the website.

Therefore, new blogs can be added/published using media, edited to replace existing information, or deleted when no longer required.

I. Add Blog Post :

On the upper right corner, click on the three horizontal dots icon and select Add Blog Post. This will open Blog Post Setup form where the information is added into separate tabs:

  1. General Tab: This tab has following fields where information has been added to create a new blog post:
    • Post Identifier*: Enter a unique identifier name that is set as the title of the post. This is a mandatory field and cannot be left blank.
    • SEO Friendly URL: Define a search engine friendly page name. For example, enter "the-top-selling-tricks" to make your URL http://yourStore.com/the-top-selling-tricks. View system generated seo optimized title suggestions of the post colored in Gray below the field.
    • Post Status: Manage statuses from the list:
      • Draft: This indicates a post that's still in the process of being written.
      • Published: This indicates a post has been published and is live on site.
    • Comment Open : Allow or prevent comments on individual posts. Click inside the empty check box to Allow, leave it Blank to Disallow.
      Once the information has been added, click on Save Changes to transit into the next section of form.
  2. Link Category: The following information is added into the next section of tab: 
    • Category: Link each blog post with multiple categories listed by clicking inside the empty check boxes placed before category names. Click on Save Changes to view the next tab.
  3. Language Tab: This tab displays the following information
    • Title*: Enter a post Title that tells the reader what the post is all about. We suggest you decide a title that immediately grab readers attention and encourage them to read your post
    • Post Author Name*: Type in the name of author to be displayed below the title along with the date and time stamp.
    • Short Description*: Enter a short description detailing the content of a blog post. Ensure to keep it short as only 250 characters will be shown on frontend.
    • Description*: Add content about the post you want to publish. For easy typing and formatting, A Word-like toolbar is provided. Click on Update once content has been added.
      Note: The other language tabs displayed are dependent on the number of languages enabled in a system.
  4. Post Images: This tab displays settings to add media to a blog post:
    • Language: When uploading media to the post, decide whether it is for the selected language or applicable for all available languages.
      Note: The number of languages enlisted depends upon the number of languages enabled in a system.
    • Photo(s): Add, select an image to add to the page or post by selecting uploadfiles option.
      There are two options to upload a media image:
      • Upload the image you want to use from your computer by dragging it into the upload area or.
      • Click on Upload Image, select destination source and click Open.
        Preferred Dimensions are 1000*563. Please upload the .png file only.

II. Edit :

Below the Action header, there is an option to make edits into existing blog posts. All of the fields of Blog Post Setup form are editable and once edits are made, click on Save Changes to save the changes made.

III. Delete :

When a post is no longer required in a system, remove it anytime by clicking on Delete, Record Delete Successfully is prompted to confirm deletion of post from the system.

IV. Search :

On the top of the listing page, there is a search bar placed for easy navigation and quick sorting of blogs listing. There are two search filters available to sort the data:

  • Search by Keyword
  • Search by post status, Draft & Pending

3. Blog Contributions

This module details inviting guest users to contribute towards your blog.

Users can send their contributions without login or registration from Contribute displayed at the front-end of the website.

As a system administrator, you can go through Blog Contribution form details posted to you, approve or disapprove requests by going through the documents shared. The following information can be collected from the Contribution Detail form:

I. Edit :

Click on the three horizontal dots icon below the Action and select option Edit to view the Blog Contribution Details received.

  1. Basic Details: No edits can be made in this area. The following basic details of users can be viewed at a glance:
    • Full Name
    • Email
    • Phone
    • Posted On
    • Status
    • Attached File
  2. Update Status: Admin is presented with several options in relation to the contribution request received:
    • Contribution Status:Decide whether received request needs to be:
      • Pending: Can’t decide, select status as Pending.
      • Approved: Reviewed and would like to give consent, select status as Approved.
      • Posted: Already posted on a website, set the status as Posted.
      • Rejected: Don’t consider posting, set the status as Rejected.
        Once finalized, click on Save Changes.

II. Delete :

Delete requests once it is no longer required in a system. Select a particular record from the listing that you want to remove, select Delete, Record Delete Successfully is prompted to confirm deletion of records into the system.

III. Search :

On the top of the listing page, there is a search bar placed for easy navigation and quick sorting of blogs listing. There are two search filters available to sort the listing data:

  • Search by Keyword
  • Search by contribution status:
    • Pending: Display results that are pending for approval.
    • Approved: Display results that have already been approved by an admin.
    • Posted: Display results that are already posted on the website.
    • Rejected: Display results that are rejected by admin.

4. Blog Comments

A list of all comments posted by users is managed from this area. Comments for only those blog posts are received that are marked as open to comments. Comments need admin approval before it is displayed on a website. Know what options are available:

I. Edit :

Click on the three horizontal dots icon below Action and select option Edit to view the Comment Details received.

  1. Basic Details:The following basic details of users can be viewed at a glance:
    • Full Name
    • Email
    • Posted on
    • Blog Post Title
    • Comment
    • User Ip
    • User Agent
  2. Update Status: Following statues related changes are managed:
    • Comment Status: Decide whether comment request needs to be:
      • Pending: Can’t decide, select status as Pending.
      • Approved: Reviewed and ready to post below the blog comment section.

II. Delete :
